For today’s everyday activities and work, wireless connectivity has shifted from a luxury to a necessity. More and more industries and public spaces require reliable, secure, and fast Wi-Fi for a growing list of use cases. The world’s needs have evolved from a one-size-fits-all network to requiring tailor-made deployments or connectivity built directly into their assets. Now, Cisco is delivering an embedded access point that will provide industry-leading wireless technology wherever needed: the Cisco 6300 Series Embedded Services Access Point (ESW6300).
The ESW6300 is the first embedded access point from Cisco, purpose-built to fill a physical and digital gap in the Wi-Fi landscape. Designed without an enclosure but instead with industry-leading operating temperature range, this access point gives partners the ability to create custom, environment-specific enclosures, or build Wi-Fi directly into their products to serve their customers’ unique needs. Early use cases include:
- Smart kiosk, light pole, and bus stop public Wi-Fi to bring the personal and business benefits of connectivity to public locations and retail in urban areas, malls, arenas, and public transport stations
- Vehicle-mounted camera footage offload to enable first responders to automatically move their large collections of data from car to station without costly cellular networks or manual effort
- Urban mesh networks fitted into newspaper stands to allow Wi-Fi to navigate difficult city landscapes and require only power cabling to extend the network
- Class I, Division 1 hazardous location enclosures to take the ESW6300 to parts of refineries and chemical processing plants that traditional industrial APs can’t go
IoT networks have no limits with the ESW6300. Dual Power Over Ethernet (PoE) out ports reduce power cabling requirements for peripheral devices and sensors, and an SFP port enables fast and efficient network backhaul.
What makes ESW6300 an exciting access point for Cisco is its versatility. Early use cases have been identified and tested by our partners, but limitless possibilities exist. Whether built directly into an automated guided vehicle or custom enclosed to connect something yet unheard of in an unprecedented environment, the Cisco 6300 Series Embedded Services Access Point is a fit.
